Artist Statement

Photography is the ultimate meditation, the ultimate 'being in the now.'

When I look at my work, I remember how I felt that day, the weather outside, what the sun or the moon looked like. I remember who I was with, who I was, how I felt. Photography became my practice of presence. My hope is that viewers experience a similar reflective connection — remembering who they were upon first viewing, and who they've become since.

Every image exists beyond digital files, manifested in the real world in celluloid, ink, physicality and imperfections.

I now stand ready to communicate what I've been seeing all along. I used to say that my work didn't matter yet, that I was only practicing so that when I have something to say, I am trained and ready to make a statement, and to create real artwork. It finally seems as if I'm trained now to speak, and I hope that you listen.
